A NeepawaVotes.com user asked:

Question as to what the candidates feel should be happening in regards to
the Eastview lodge location in Neepawa.

The Candidates responded:

Allan Drysdale

Eastview Lodge is out of our hands - the best we can do is urge the provincial government to do something with it quickly.

Ken Waddell

Eastview Lodge was paid for by the local community through a locally raised down payment, a mortgage paid by rents from local residents and by fund raising. It may still be a solid building and I will at least call a public meeting to get community feedback. It's the job of the mayor to fight for what's best for the community. I believe the community wants the building renovated and if so, I am prepared to fight for that option.

Bob Durston

The Eastview Lodge came up again tonight in the mayors forum
My answer to your question on Eastview Lodge is that Mayor and council need
to continue efforts to have the Province make a decision on the future of
the building as it is deteriorating sitting vacant. The town's economic
development officer has been assisting potential developers in looking at
options. It appears to  me that if the province and developers cannnot come
to an agreement on re development then the Province should have the building
demolished and negotiate for the development of multi family residences on
the property as it is already zoned for multi family. This would add to our
housing opportunities. Perhaps it could even be under the  Manitoba Housing
Authority.

Sheri Grant

All avenues need to be absolutely exhausted as far as Eastview being
developed is concerned. I personally think that ball was dropped in regards
to this issue;
I will be very disappointed if it comes down. If no developer is found and
the land is cleared then we should explore the best use for the property.
